Blackpool Planning

  • Equipment list
    • camera
    • tripod
  • Possible constraints
    • not enough time, take a long time to get dark (long exposure)
    • not enough movement in the traffic.
  • Health and safety
    • might get run over
    • someone might try and steal equipment
  • lighting conditions
    • light for the most part, short time of darkness
  • weather
    • hopefully it's clear, might rain.
  • Back up plan
    • take pictures of the illuminations from the beach
  • what am i going to shoot?
    • I'm going to take long exposures of traffic moving and anything that says "The Illuminations" to me.

True Enlightenment, Comes from chasing traffic.

The Blackpool Illuminations are often, and incorrectly described as "The greatest light show on earth", the lights are little more than tacky and personally, the only interesting factor in the entire affair is the traffic, the movement and interaction brought only by the crowds. The Illuminations without them are boring and mundane, however, bringing in the visitors and tourists really brings the attraction to life, using this thought process, i would like to try and capture the movement and interactivity that the tourists and crowds bring, the real immersion of the illuminations is more an experience, rather than a location, or collection of lights.
